Spotlight: Andy!
It’s Friday and that means it’s time to put another Globalite in the Spotlight. Introducing, Andy!
What do you do?
I am the designer in the Comms team, so it’s my job to make sure the email campaigns we send out all look nice and pretty!
How long have you been with the company?
Just over 4 months now.
What did you want to be growing up?
Taller! All the classic ones – a policeman, a footballer, a TV presenter, a rock star… I went through a phase of wanting to be a radio DJ – there are some very embarrassing tapes somewhere of me and my brother making our own radio shows together.
(I was only about 6 at the time though!)
How would your work mates describe you in 3 words?
Well I’ve asked around and they’ve gone for ‘Polite, Rosy, DJ’.
If you could have a super power, what would it be?
I think time travel would be pretty cool. First stop would be 1994 and I’d stop myself from making recordings of those radio shows!
Biggest inspiration? (Exluding family)
I’m going to have to say Prince Harry as he is a fellow sufferer of rosacea, which is a skin condition and the reason my cheeks are always red! Don’t worry – it’s not contagious, but I know what he’s going through. It can be tough.
Marmite. Love or hate?
I can’t remember ever eating it – it smells pretty bad though so I’m not taking the risk!
What are your 3 favourite websites, and why? (Excluding us!)
1. www.facebook.com – great for keeping in touch with people and just generally being nosey.
2. www.youtube.com – I have spent many, many hours of my life on this site.
3. www.whosampled.com – for my fellow music nerds, check it out.
A secret fact that nobody at work knows?
When I was at uni, I had a 4 year DJ residency playing to over 2,000 people every Saturday night. I’ve played in loads of venues (including an open-top bus at a festival), had a radio show with some mates (fulfilling a lifelong dream!!) and have been on the same bill as some big(ish!) names like Example, Katy B and Magnetic Man. Also, some not so big names like Mike Fielding (Noel’s brother…) and Fred Bowers (the old guy that break-danced on Britain’s Got Talent – see picture!).
What item could you not live without at work? (Excluding your computer)?
My notepad – it’s full of ideas, sketches and my all important to-do-lists!
