Spotlight Time… Introducing Kevin Roche!

WHAT DO YOU DO?

I am a ColdFusion Developer. I develop parts of the engine that drives the Whitelabeldating.com. Most recently I was working on the new Encounters service which allows members to say if they would like to meet each other.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN WITH THE COMPANY?

I have been with the company for 8 Months.

WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE GROWING UP?

I wanted to be a Research Scientist. I actually got a job doing that for the Ministry of Defence when I left school but then realised that I preferred writing computer programmes.

HOW WOULD YOUR WORK MATES DESCRIBE YOU IN 3 WORDS?

Chocoholic, Photographer and Reliable. (Thanks Jen and Sam!).

IF YOU COULD HAVE A SUPER POWER, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

The ability to read people’s minds.

BIGGEST INSPIRATION? (EXCLUDING FAMILY)

Photography. I love to take photographs and am currently learning studio lighting techniques.

MARMITE. LOVE OR HATE?

Love it.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE 3 WEBSITES AND WHY?

  1. BBC.co.uk – Originally I was inspired by the BBC to work on the internet and eventually helped to shape the BBC website myself. Its great for news and TV and where would I be without iPlayer?
  2. Meetup.com – Its a great way to meet other people and do something of mutual interest.
  3. TheInquirer.net – Technical news that’s not covered by the regular news media.

A SECRET OR FACT THAT NOBODY AT WORK KNOWS?

I once had breakfast with Ted Codd. (Unfortunately only database experts will know the significance of this.)

WHAT COULD YOU NOT LIVE WITHOUT AT WORK (EXCLUDING YOUR COMPUTER)?

My mobile phone.
