Spotlight: Kevin!
Spotlight Time! Please meet Kevin
WHAT DO YOU DO?
I’m a Developer. I’m part of the Globaldev team who maintain and add to the core functionality of the WhiteLabelDating.com platform.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN WITH THE COMPANY?
I’ve only been here for four months, so I’m still the new boy.
WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE GROWING UP?
Before I discovered computers I wanted to be a baker. Cinnamon rolls were my speciality as a child. From the moment my parents bought me my first computer I wanted to make computer games and this was the plan right up until university. I was enrolled on the only course related to game development in the country at the time, but the course was cancelled at the last minute and I took a detour into Software Engineering.
HOW WOULD YOUR WORK MATES DESCRIBE YOU IN 3 WORDS?
Open to suggestions.
IF YOU COULD HAVE A SUPER POWER, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
The ability to freeze time. There never seems to be enough time to do all of the things I plan, or to learn all the things I’d like.
BIGGEST INSPIRATION? (EXCLUDING FAMILY)
At the moment, probably a Swedish game developer by the name of Markus Persson. He started making a little game for himself called Minecraft and is now a multimillionaire just from pre-sales of the game. I like to dream that I could find similar success one day…
MARMITE. LOVE OR HATE?
Hate. I have no idea how anyone can eat the stuff.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE 3 WEBSITES AND WHY?
Engadget – My main point of call for technology-related news. A requirement of membership into the Geek Club.
Dark Horizons – I love movies and (mostly American) TV. This site is one of the best I’ve found for pulling together all the entertainment news from around the web.
Steam – The best way to feed my game addiction without needing to take out a second mortgage.
A SECRET OR FACT THAT NOBODY AT WORK KNOWS?
A lot of people know that I keep guinea pigs at home, but most don’t realise that I have a total of ten guinea pigs (six girls and four boys, one pictured above) and a tiny Roborovski hamster called Gus. Looking after all these animals is almost a full-time job in itself!

WHAT COULD YOU NOT LIVE WITHOUT AT WORK (EXCLUDING YOUR COMPUTER)?
My toys. I’m a big kid at heart and the five currently sitting on my desk are quite restrained compared to my usual collection. I’m sure their numbers will only grow over time…
